GES introduces self-placement system for newly qualified teachers
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has introduced a self-placement system for 12,720 newly qualified teachers who have completed their degree programmes at colleges of education and passed their licensure exams.
Following an invitation from the GES for employment on May 11, 2024, over 20,000 applications were received from qualified teachers, with 12,720 successful candidates in the first batch.
These individuals are required to visit the Ghana Education Service portal between July 5 and July 31, 2024, to complete the self-placement exercise.
At a press conference held at the Ghana Education Service headquarters in Accra on Thursday, July 4, the Director-General of GES, Eric Nkansah, explained that the self-placement system aims to address various challenges faced by teachers, including language barriers and financial difficulties.
GES, NaCCA to roll out new standard-based curriculum next academic year
The Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to deploy guidance and counselling personnel to Junior High and Senior High Schools to prepare and educate students ahead of the full rollout of the new curriculum for secondary education in the country.
The new standard-based curriculum is expected to be implemented in the next academic year and will provide SHS students with a more flexible and personalised learning experience.
Ghana Education Service to roll out new standards-based curriculum next year – Director
The Ghana Education Service will implement new ‘standards-based curriculum’ for second-cycle schools beginning next academic year.
Mr Francis Yao Agbemadi, the Volta Regional Director of Education, who announced this, said the new curriculum represented a significant shift from the current objective-based curriculum, which primarily focused on note learning and memorisation by students.
Mr Agbemadi announced this in an address at the grand durbar of the Student Representative Council (SRC) Week Celebration at Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School (Dzosec).
